AWOL from IM

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Right, I have been missing for a while, and for good reason. I have moved home AGAIN and there are no phone lines here, so I have been connected (huh thats a joke!) to the internet via a 3G connection. At best I get dial up speed and it constantly fluctuates from 0kb to about 40kb, not conducive to working online Im afraid.

The good news is that I now have a satellite connection, which is pretty much a consistent 1mb up and download speed. That means I am back, with a vengeance. However, my sights have changed in the meantime.

I no longer believe that I can earn an honest living doing only Internet Marketing. Why? Because it is too uncertain, I spend all day checking to see if anyone signed up to anything, or (God forbid) took out their credit card and bought something that I am recommending. Its just too tough, too time consuming and too competitive.

Therefore, I have found a middle ground. I write and get paid for it. Here is one example of a page I have written:

How to Add a Paypal Button to Your Website

It took me about 30 minutes to pull together and I got paid $7 for it. I am now the page owner and will continue to earn adsense revenue for as long as I keep it updated. I will explain more about the site I am currently working for (the best in the industry as far as I am concerned) so you can call get a look in on this one. Its just a great way to earn a reasonable income, or extra money, which you can then invest in a steady and well supported internet marketing business.

Genuine On-line Earnings – MAHALO

I have been working really hard at a site that provides the facility for you to create reference pages and get paid for each one. No buts, no maybes and no scam. These guys will pay you on the nose for any task you complete that they accept, if it meets their standards.

It doesnt sound like much, but at least I have a basic sum of money to invest into my internet marketing plan, which right now I am sorely lacking.

If you think you can write a factual page of around 500 words, in a given format then go to:

http://mahalo.com

Ask and answer some questions, carry out some barnraising tasks, then attempt to qualify for the how-to team by completing one of the Rush-Week tasks. When you qualify, you can pick up designated tasks, given only to the team, or suggest your own how-to pages and suggest a price that Mahalo will pay you. Paypal is the preferred payment method and you can only cash out at M$150 (thats Mahalo dollars, 0.75cents to the dollar.)

If that sounds like hard work, its not. My first page took me just over an hour and, with a couple of tweeks, was accepted and I was paid my M$10. Since then, in an 8 day period, I have increased my balance to M$80 and am working on three more today to get that up to M$110.

Do the math, 3 per day (3 hours work) multiplied by 7 days is M$210 per week, quite a nice sum of small change, and this isnt a maybe, its a definite.

Watch this video with the CEO talking with one of the staff of Mahalo, describing their future plans and what they want for their members.

I love this site, there is no referral system but, if you do join and decide to become part of the how-to team, please let me know. I will email a staff member and tell them I recommended you, when you have completed 10 how to’s they will pay me M$100, I will give you half of that back for allowing me to use your name.

Let me know how you do, I just know we can all be part of this great site, and the opportunity is now, dont miss it.

I remain yours truthfully

DONT Make Google Advertisers Pay Unnecessarily

I felt I should make a point of letting you know that I like to be fair to my fellow marketers and I also like to be fair to Google.

What do I mean by this? I mean that, if I am genuinely looking for something to buy online or it is a personal interest thing, then I will directly click on the Google Sponsored ad link and the advertiser (I’m afraid) has to pay for that click.

BUT, and this is a big BUT!! If I am doing market research for a niche that I am currently in or looking to get into, I do NOT make the advertiser pay, its just not fair, I may be his competition, but making him pay for a completely non-valid click just doesnt wash with me.

The way I do this: I simply swipe the url at the bottom of the ad, copy that and paste it into the address bar in my web browser. Its very simple and I dont then feel bad about clicking on my competitors link and making them pay through the nose (which they already do) for me to spy on them.

Do you click on Google Sponsored ads and my the advertiser pay, or do you play fair and carry out research without it costing your competitor?

Until my next ramblings (and confessions)

I remain, yours truly

PS The brilliant idea I had, of asking you to help me choose my next topic, didnt work. I even left it two more days just in case you were waiting till after the weekend. Hey, but, no matter. I’ll just pick em as I wanna tell em!

What In Twitters Name Shall I Write Next?

Im going to tweet this post to my twitter followers so they can help me in my choice. I havent written for a while, not because I dont know what to write or have run out of ideas, but because I cant choose which subject to write about next.

I have ideas flowing through my head all day and each time I think, “right, I’ll post about that”, only to be put off by an even better idea.

So, will you help me choose my next topic here, what do you want me to rant or rave about? Comment at the bottom on your choice, and I will post over the weekend.

Here is your list to choose from:

  1. Ideas in the night, do you record them?
  2. Do you want to make someone else rich, whilst only surviving yourself?
  3. Do you ever click “sponsored” ads on Google?
  4. Do you ever click the number one organic ad on Google?
  5. Chatting on line, is it valuable?
  6. How do you track your results?
  7. Do you know where your traffic is coming from?
  8. What do you consider a “good” amount of traffic?
  9. Do your family and friends “understand” you?

Ok, Im gonna stop there, just a few of the options running through my head right now. I will cover them all, but I want to know what you would like to read about first. Please let me know.

Till next time
I remain yours truly

Not Internet Marketing Related….or is it?

Hi friends and fellow striving internet marketers.

Ive been absent for a few days for a very good reason, I was invited to take part in a TV pilot called “Change Your Look ….. Change Your Life” and it was my “look” and “life” they were filming being “changed”.

All sounds very glamorous doesnt it? New make up, clothes, new hair do, new style, being the centre of attention, becoming “famous” (ha ha) and such an easy way to achieve something beyond what “normal” life generally offers.

Well for one, it’s not glamorous! Getting up at 5:30 to drive 2 hours and then lug a suitcase of my current wardrobe up two flights of stairs to meet the cameraman and the director(ess) and then get back in the car to sit on a beach for an hour “waiting for the right light”, leaves you feeling anything but “glamorous”, especially when you are full cold, sneezing, coughing and sniffing. That was only the first scene, and thankfully we were able to complete the 10 minute scene in one take (is was getting cold!)

Scene two took 15 takes to wrap, scene three 12 and the day went on like that. We did, however, end the first day with the final scene in a restaurant, with me all “done up” so to speak, and my “life coach” telling me how fantastic I looked and helping me decide where I was going to take it from here. Then the cameras stopped rolling and we had a great meal and such a laugh, it was like a huge weight had been lifted and I was finally able to just enjoy myself.

It wasnt over yet though, there were scenes that had to be filmed the following day (during daylight) that needed to be slotted in between the opening and closing scenes, which could not all be filmed on the same day. I never realised how much footage gets shot to create 26 minutes of TV!

I took many experiences away from those days and have thought it through for the last 48 hours (whilst trying to get over this cold) and it all relates to internet marketing, in quite a linear way. The points I noted are:

1. We see “glamour, fame and riches” at the beginning and think its all going to be easy (not so)
2. We think there are just a few steps and it’s all going to fall into place and work (not so)
3. We dont understand that there are things we need to learn quite quickly for this to be successful
4. We dont realise how much hard work has to be done “behind the scenes” for it to appear seamless and professional
5. Getting tired and bored and having to do the same mundane thing over and over again, is just part of the “job”

Sounds like “internet marketing” to me! What do you think?

Till my next observation
I remain yours truly

Apparently A “Caveman Can Do It”

What sort of comparison is that? “Even a caveman can do it!”

I had to say something about those sites I come across that I just “hate!”

Full of hypy chat, repeated crap that they think we believe, massively long sales letter, flash cars all over the page, promises of instant sales, several thousands of dollars, cash in big – daily and proof of earnings to make you sick. He doesnt even cuss for goodness sake!

Now if anyone were seriously earning this type of money, why would they bother creating something so obviously hypy as this, go look – DO NOT SIGN UP – it is as an example of exactly what NOT to listen to, and he goes on for at least 15 minutes ….. Yawn! Luxury, explosive cash ins, gigantic lists ……. and on and on and on…..!

Example of BAD sales page

He even says “does this sound too good to be true?” Oh, please, it IS too good to be true. Im going to post a few of these, they are a perfect example why people are so wary of purchasing anything on line, and so they should be.

If you really want to earn money on line, please dont do this, its sickening and I hope and pray that you good guys (and gals) out there dont fall for it.

Give me your opinion below, Id love to hear what YOU think about the website linked above.

Till next time
Yours Truly

I “LOVE” Twitter

I have been using a great automated submitter called Traffic Bug, and am thrilled with it’s performance and the amount of time it saves me.

Well I really wanted to share this amazing tool, so I put a post on twitter and by the time I got back to Traffic Bug to check what other stuff I could use to promote the software (a matter of 4 minutes) there had been 10 unique visitors to my site. Look at the screen capture below, you can see how many clicks there were and the time lapse……

….now I knew that Twitter was supposed to be powerful, but until now I didnt realise quite how powerful it can be. And Ive been “advised” to use Twitter in different ways, but I was too excited about sharing this tool, so I ignored the advice and, hey, it worked.

I truly think that if you have something of “real” value, that is geniunly interesting to others on line, it doesnt matter how you put the message across. Just be honest and direct and the results will speak for themselves.

If you want to follow me on Twitter you will find me at http://twitter.com/ritz100
and if you want to take a look at traffic bug click the image above (or the link below) and take that 7 day free trial, you’ll be really pleased that you did.

I’m Feeling Empowered

I have taken far too long in returning here to add updates to my progress in my internet marketing experience, so I want to ensure you that I have not forgotten, but wanted to come back with something worthwhile to say.

For the past few weeks I have made massive changes in my life and have “avoided” those people and situations that “bring me down!” I have looked at what I want from life and decided that I will have it. I remember my mother saying be careful what you wish for, because it may just come true, and I am beginning to believe that if you truly desire something and really want it, you may have it. But be careful!

I am also amazed that I have had two lovely responses to my previous post, thank you to Rob and Sandra. I really didnt think anyone read this stuff, but I am so pleased that I have at least touched two people in this world, people that would otherwise not have met me were it not for this blog.

Everyone should write something every so often, it does two things. It allows you to put your thoughts not only into words, but (I believe) also into action, and conveys to others, who feel the same way, that they are not the “only” ones experiencing those thoughts and feelings.

So write every so often, I am convinced that the people who are meant to be touched by your words will be, because the powers that be will guide them toward you to hear what you have to say.

SPEAK ON!
Till next time, I remain yours truthfully

Further Internet Marketing Developments

I have spent the last few days trying to improve my life, following the advice of other entrepreneurs in Internet Marketing.

For one, I have tried to improve my diet, eat lots of raw greens they say, its good for the brain, so Ive been developing my own raw veggy juices and salads that I actually “enjoy.” Well it is summer, these things are easier now, not sure how I will fair in the winter.  Any suggestions from fellow Internet Marketers would be much appreciated.

I also found out that “power napping”, or taking a quick snooze after lunch, improves brain power! Well I never! I live in Spain and it’s a tradition here to take a siesta, which I have got into the habit of doing, so now I can justify it, whoop!

On top of that I have been following Ed Dale’s 30 day challenge which, I am pleased to say, I have been keeping up with this year, last year I sort of gave up after 15 days, it was all a bit beyond me then, but this year I feel I know enough to take it through to the end.

Now I await, with impatience, the next installment in Dean Hollands Believe & Achieve show (his weekly free training,) and making contact with all those great guys on his last training program. Look out for me, Im still going through your blogs and looking for inspiration, I have found some already and continue to seek.

Oh ,and Ive put a link on the right over there to a free PDF that goes through manually setting up a wordpress blog. Fair play to Tommy McLaughlin who wrote and distributed it, I have found it invaluable. Click on the image and you will get taken straight to the file.

Till next time.
